St. Augustine Foundation, Inc. (formerly St. Augustine Restoration, Inc. and St. Augustine Restoration Foundation, Inc.) was established in 1962 to support the Historic St. Augustine Historic Preservation Board and Restoration Commission to secure & invest in restoration projects in the historic downtown of St. Augustine, Florida.


Our Purpose

This corporation is organized exclusively for charitable, religious, educational, and scientific purposes, including, for such purposes, the making of distributions to organizations that qualify as exempt organizations under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, or the corresponding section of any future federal tax code. The specific purpose or purposes for which the corporation is organized are:

      • To acquire, in any lawful manner, property of every kind and description and to own, hold, manage, maintain, preserve, operate, administer, and dispose of the same and provide for the maintenance, care, and use of the same, and to determine how those properties may be used, leased, or operated;
      • To acquire in trust, in fee simple, or for a limited time, and to preserve, restore, produce, maintain, and exhibit historic landmarks, sites, buildings, remains, or other property of historic interest, value, beauty, scientific interest, recreational utility, or other unusual features within, or in the vicinity of, St. Augustine, Florida, and to gather and disseminate information in connection therewith;
      • To hold, manage, pledge, sell, rent, lease, transfer, or in any manner, dispose of and deal and trade in real estate, goods, merchandise, intangible property of any and every class and description wheresoever the same may be located;
      • To promote research and education and further useful knowledge in the realm of history, science, literature, culture, art, and music;
      • To promote, establish, maintain, or support a library or libraries, charitable organizations, or institutions of higher learning;
      • To promote, establish, maintain, or support a museum or museums, or other places for exhibits, and for use of objects, books, and documents; and, also, to collect and preserve artifacts, relics, books, documents, and exhibits of historical, educational, scientific, or other interests to scholars, students, or other interested persons;
      • To approve and award grants or scholarships for research, for any investigation which increases useful knowledge, and for publications and public presentations consistent with the purposes of the Foundation; and
      • To solicit, when authorized by law, and accept gifts and bequests of money, securities, or property for the endowment to support its purposes and to hold the same in trust, or otherwise, in accordance with the instructions of the donor, and to invest and reinvest the same, and to employ the interest in income from such investments, as well as the principal, for its purposes.
